    Chapman hits 105!

There is an article on ESPN Rumor Central that reports Chapman hit 105mph on one of his fastballs last night. It was verified by at least two guns. All of the rest of his fastballs were 100-104mph.

Can you imagine guys like Cueto and Volquez blowing away people with their 95mph fastballs, and then Chapman can throw it 10mph faster? That's ridiculous. Compared to Chapman, it is like Cueto and Volquez are throwing slop up there.

What is the record for fastest recorded pitch?

Wow. Here's an interesting article I found:

    http://www.baseball-almanac.com/arti...baseball.shtml

It says the fastest pitch ever recorded was 104.8 mph by Joel Zumaya.

could you imagine if Chapman had a change up like Edinsons? I laugh just thinking about it.

Well if Chapman's fastball sits at 100-104, his changeup could literally be 94-95mph. LOL!

    From Jamie Ramsey:

I just saw the organization report from last night's minor league games. I can confirm that Chapman actually did throw 105.

I thought Bench pulled that stunt with Gerry Arrigo, not Maloney.

Baseball America has reported the same thing. That is some serious heat.

Were these the same guns used to clock Brandon Phillips as he drove that night?

And to think I thought I was witnessing history the night he threw 103, TWICE.

Dude is ridiculous. Has anyone ever hit over 103 before?

It was Arrigo. In fact, we discussed it in this thread one time.

I remember reading an article last year, before Chapman signed, that argued that Chapman's heat was overrated. He was convinced that Chapman's fast ball actually sits at like 92-94 and touches 97-98 and that the reports of a 100+ FB were totally bogus. I guess he was wrong.

Was that during a game though? As I understand it, the fastest Zumaya has ever been clocked during a game was 105.

I would like to know what gun zumaya was clocked on. Stadium guns and tv guns are notorius for being higher then scout guns. If Zumaya hit 105 on scouts guns like chapman did I would be surprised.
