    Braves interested in Weathers

    CBS Sportsline:

The Braves have the resources to trade for a veteran to add bench strength and first-base defense but they could aim much higher and make a splash by trading for Texas first baseman Mark Teixeira, as suggested by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The Braves have talked to several teams in recent weeks and could make a move for a proven veteran such as Cincinnati's versatile David Weathers.

I wonder if the Braves would trade us Joey Devine for Weathers?

we could send them hatteberg aswell to further strengthen their bench. Hatteberg and Weathers could bring in a decent return.

Weathers alone would not do it. We would need Hatteberg and Weathers; or Lohse and Weathers to get Saltemacchia. I do hope we could get him, though.

I think we can forget about Saltalamacchia.

They're so deficient at 1B that trading him would be just a lateral move.

The Braves probably wouldn't trade Salty for Griffey straight up.

Here's something to keep in mind about Weathers: if he pitches well the rest of this season and has a repeat performance next season, we could very well get two draft picks as compensation. That may be what we have to measure his return against.
