    Anything odd here?

Anyone notice something odd about this player profile?

    I found it
[Phil ] Castellini celebrated the team's farm system and noted the team had promising prospects who would one day be great Reds -- and then joke then they'd be ex-Reds, saying "of course we're going to lose them". #SellTheTeamBob

    (a) Ryan Ludwick was not born in Tampere, Finland
    (b) Ryan Ludwick is not a defenseman
    (c) Ryan Ludwick is not 28
    (d) Ryan Ludwick has played in way more than 112 games over his career
    (e) Ryan Ludwick does not play hockey for the Devils
    (f) Ryan Ludwick is not spelled "Anssi Salmela"
    (g) All of the above
How do we know he's not Mel Torme?

I was thinking the same thing, hahaha.

God ESPN is completely awful, esp. when it comes to hockey. I've noticed other things like this through the years on their website.

I have to think there's a provision in his contract that might not allow this....

    Are you sure?
    http://espn.go.com/nhl/player/gamelo.../anssi-salmela
As you can see from the game log, Salmela did not appear in a game after April 10 in 2012 and I have never seen Salmela and Ludwick in the same place together Salmela plays for a Siberian team in the KHL. The KHL regular season appears to end in mid-February.

This would allow Ludmela plenty of time to be back for Spring Training. The grind of his double life is probably what lead to his poor seasons before last year. His move to the KHL proved to be less demanding allowing him to regain his earlier baseball form.

Maybe they can re-write his contract to let him play in the AHL...

I'm not ruling out anything, but a guy that has "Brass Monkey" as his intro. song gets the benefit of the doubt in my book.

We should wait for all the facts to come out here.

If the Devils give the Reds Martin Brodeur, would that satisfy Reds fans?

Depends on Brodeur's OPS....and what's his WAR, anyway?

He did just record his 120th career regular season shutout and has 24 more in the postseason. That'll play.

I blame Devin Mesoraco, or something.
There is no such thing as a pitching prospect.

Bob Boone, as well as Adam Dunn's strikeout totals are far more to blame in my opinion.

You can trace the blame back to Ludwick's time in St. Louis. La Russa takes the blame on this one (along with all bad things in the universe).

He should just be happy they didn't put a photo of a Cubs player in his profile...
