I've been saying this for a while about catching prospects, but the good ones usually seem to learn how to catch first, and worry about becoming hitters 2nd, so that, by the time they start hitting, the prospect experts have already given up on them. The ones who come up as good hitters tend to be the ones who wind up playing another position or just being not very good defensive catchers.Originally Posted by BuckeyeRedleg

I dunno, it seems improbable that Paul Bako has suddenly learned how to hit at age 36, especially with a career line of .237/.309/.325. The man's career high OBP is .332 (I'm ignoring a 40 AB season) and the highest SLG he's ever had was .358. I hope the tear he's on now lasts, but I very much doubt it.
