Why would you announce who is going to be on the roster days/week before? All it does is satisfy the media and the fan base. Of course, it gives the opposition extra time to study tapes and ready their rosters.
By the way... I haven't checked, but has any of the other teams announced their rosters yet?

Nobody even asked him who he would replace as far as I can tell. He doesn't have to announce the roster at all. All he has to say is, Billy is one of our best guys right now, but we haven't made a final roster yet. Heck, just say we haven't decided anything and leave it at that. In the playoffs. Izzy is going to play IF only in case of dire emergency.
Hamilton can do that, too. By all accounts, he was an excellent SS.

I don't believe that's correct. They moved him to CF for a reason, and I don't think the primary reason was Cozart or the lack of a long-term CF option.

Everyting I read said that wasn't good at all. He had a lot of problems with his throws,IIRC.

They may not want to send Izturis to the plate except in an emergency, but he may well get onto the field via double switches or if Cozart is the guy that Hamilton pinch-runs for. Unless the season is on the line if that run doesn't score, I have a hard time imagining Votto, Choo, Bruce or Phillips coming out of the game in a double switch or for a pinch-runner. Everyone else is fair game, so they're not going without backup options.

I worry about a lot of things and this isn't close to one of them. He's a guarantee to be on the playoff roster.

I've had mine for a while! There is NO WAY there's 15 guys (assumed 10 man pitching staff) who could be more valuable than Hamilton in the playoffs and no excuse for even saying Hamilton may not be kept for playoffs. His legs alone make him more valuable than most of our bench has been this year.
