    Ayn truth?/Rolen

Anybody believe the rumors being reported through MLB Trade Rumors that Rolen turned down $4 million from the Reds and Dodgers? Hard to believe the Reds offered that much jack and that Rolen declined, if he really wanted to play. More to the story?

It stated in that article that he also wanted guaranteed playing time. That may have been the issue. Additionally, that article hints at possible Yankee interest.

Honestly Rolen is starting to get on my nerves. 4 million for an old guy who hasn't been very good for a few seasons now is a mighty generous offer from the Reds.

And he wants guranteed playing time? Does he think it 1998 still? Is he delusional and thinks that he is starter quality?

When I saw the title of this thread, I figured it would be moved to the politics board.

(sorry, I had to say it.)

I think it's time to move on from Rolen...at this point he's below average on the field, and guys like Votto should be taking the lead as "clubhouse leader"...

Maybe he's only willing to play under that scenario. He may be thinking if he doesn't get an offer with enough money and from a team willing to make him their starter, then it's not worth continuing his career. Can't blame him for that. Either someone will make him that offer or he'll ride off happily into the sunset.

I have more faith in Jocketty than to believe the story in the OP.

I agree with a lot of sentiment. Hard to believe he turned that amount of money - and to expect guaranteed playing time is a bit much. I'm a little disappointed in Rolen if this is true.

I loved having him on the team and appreciated what he did for the organization - but he clearly is not the same player. I realize that may be hard for a player as good as he was to have to swallow, but it is time to move on.
