None of the above teams was able to match the local drawing power of the Cincinnati Reds. The extra-innings Reds/Angels game, the first ever interleague Opening Day match-up, earned a whopping 23.5 rating on Fox Sports Ohio and and CBS affiliate WKRC in Cincinnati — the highest ever for a Reds season opener.

Great news.. more encouragement that the fans will support a winning franchise.

    Thank you Cast!

I wonder what the number was for Fox Sports in other markets. I know several who were watching the Reds in the Louisville market. It would not surprise me if they had a 2 or 2.5 in Louisville, which by-the-way, is an awesome number!
What if this is as good as it gets?

I don't know a ton about what constitutes a good rating and what doesn't, and even I did a double take when I saw that number.

    Fantastic!

    Fantastic!
Locally the Reds outperformed the Super Bowl. That is what you need to know.

Also, I'd bet there were just as many people at the various bars/restaurants at the Banks as there were inside GABP itself- it was a mob scene, and that's great for Cincinnati and local business.

The game being at 4:10 and not at lunch time (and also lasting 5 hours) helped out tremendously too. A big window after work & school, to watch the game.

The cheesy sponsors are half the fun. Loving the personal injury ad where the lawyer gives out his "personal" cell phone number with the terrible drawing of a cartoon bulldog mauling the Scales of Justice

That number is ginormous. There are TV shows on primetime who would kill off half their cast members to get a number that high. Nice job Cincy!!!
