I do not get his post either, but you bring up an interesting point. Oester was a Cincinnati native, a hard nosed player, and a respected coach at one time. I think he has been out of the game for a few years but would love to see him get another chance. Although, I would need to hear his philosophy on hitting first.

yeah the hitting philosophy thing is obviously key.....i think most of us would agree that there seemed to be a lack of fire in the dugout on a daily basis and I think the old Oester, at least, would bring that kind of attitude. It'd be a fairly inexpensive area to add some personality it seems

While being a good major league hitter is not a prerequisite (one plus on Oester's side of the ledger), has he ever been a hitting coach....anywhere? In that case, maybe we should look up Luis Quinones, whose name came up in the six degrees thread.
