I imagine that the 'bullpen guys' all hang out in the pen regardless of whether it is their day to throw or not. In the AFL, guys have specific days that they are supposed to play.

Thx Jax - great reports. Negron isn't our answer at SS, but he could prove useful to have as depth in case of MI injuries over the next year or two.

Right. What may end up elevating him above Valaika as a bench guy is his defense and his speed. The more he hits, the quicker he'll become viable major league depth.

Agreed, especially about the D @ SS. Not sure how much trade value Valaika has, but Negron makes it easier to deal him if someone is interested in Chris as a throw-in.

[QUOTE=mace;2292595]Just stumbled over this little item about Ben Jukich mowing 'em down in the Venezuelan League.

Too bad he won't be with Louisville or Cincy next year.

Negron with a three run homer on Friday (his only hit in 4 AB). Its only 33 AB, but Negron with .273/.368/.545/.915 and has been the most impressive Red so far. Meanwhile, the Reds as a whole continue to struggle. Mesoraco 0 for 3 with a couple Ks has cooled after a fast start. Valiquette continues to get knocked around. 2 Hits, 2 BB 1 HR allowed with 4 ER in an inning of work. Valiquette with 11 Runs allowed (8 earned) in 6 IP so far in the AFL.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

Almost as bad as Ondrusek and Boxberger was last year. Watson the year before that. It seems that every Reds reliever sent out there gets smashed.

Keith Law said in his chat this week that Mes is struggling badly behind the plate.

He is... but given how a lot of catchers look behind the plate after a long season, it isn't much of a surprise. I wouldn't put much stock into it given what he did for 5 months of the season.

Went to Reds game today. Bryce Harper played. Hit first pitch he saw over the bullpen and on top of a party deck in RF. Later doubled off the wall. All in all 3-5. Has nice arm also. Time to come home.

Might be a good thing for him though. There is some money to be made there and it might be money he was never going to get a chance to make here.
