I'd still like to see Bailey down in Louisville for another two months, regardless if he goes on a tear similar to what he did last season in Sarasota and Chattanooga.
Today's start could have been a fluke high K/9 and K/BB start for him, or as we all hope, it could have been the beginning of Bailey's AAA adjustments allowing him to turn the corner and begin dominating International League hitters regularly. My gut feeling is it's more likely the latter rather than the former, and even if that's what we saw today, I still want to see this type of development and dominance happen consistently.
I'd like to see another 10 or so starts of Bailey in Louisville, and if the bulk of those starts resemble what he did today, then it may be time to consider bringing him up in late July or early August.

I was at the game today and actually sat next to Bobby Livingston and Mike Gosling who were running radar and charting pitches in the stands. 89-95 was an accurate reading at least by Livingstons gun. Seems to me as though maybe they are working Homer to take a few off to get his control down and then dial it up to 95 when he needs it. He did exceptional today with the only hit being a bunt that was popped up and over his head behind the mound. Seemed as though he had all his pitches working. Also for anyone who didnt know he also hit a 2 run single today and walked.

Look at the track record of the Twins with prospects. Wayne Krivsky would seemingly be the last guy to rush a prospect. The Twins were notorious for holding players back and Krivsky has been quoted as basically saying the same thing.
This is the time. The real Reds organization is back.

Homer is dominating AAA now... he has some control issues but why not have a major league pitching coach instruct him. Homer doesn't live and breathe baseball. He already thinks hes the best thing since sliced bread and the ML is just another step for him to learn. He should get comfortable in the majors so when we need him to hopefully contend next yr hes already in the groove. I still don't think he'll be less than great in the show, hes had success at every step of the learning curve, lets go to that final step.
Only teams that don't care about payroll would bring up players when they dont need them.
He is not dominating AAA right now. His last start was dominating, but that's about it. I wait a bit for him to come up.
It might be a ridiculous concept for fans, but for an organization, it's what you have to do.
There is no way I bring homer up this season until you know his arb clock isn't going to start. It just doesn't make sense to waste a full year of arbitration on a half year of a lost season. If they were not going to put him in the rotation from the start then I wouldn't touch him until after the all star break.
I agree. It can make a one year difference in how long the Reds can afford to keep Bailey in the future if he is as good as we all hope. Do we want to have Bailey locked up for the 2011 season(I think??), or do we want him to be a free agent? By simply waiting until July, I believe we keep him under Reds control an extra year. Given the Reds budget and market size, I think that is important. Given that this season looks to be lost, even more so.
