So, from an outsider's viewpoint, it looks like X lost their mojo after the UC brawl. Before then, they looked like an excellent top 10 team. Afterwards, they looked barely top 64.
What the heck happened?

I'll give an insiders view: Xavier is the same team now that they were before the brawl. People just didn't notice because the lucky bounces went our way; since then they haven't. This is a good but not great team and that is how the season is shaking out. With the soft bubble this is probably still a tournament team but unless the 4 and 5 players suddenly learn to play tough it is one and done.
True enough. But since we are comparing numbers, I'd like to compare NCAA tournament records and our head to head record in the past several decades. The links below should help you out.

Xavier Tournament History
Dayton Tournament History
Well, if we're going to go back "several decades," I'd direct you to Dayton's Final Four appearance, national championship runner-up status and the fact that UD has occupied every spot in the AP poll from Nos. 2-25. Despite all of xavier's success, it still has never achieved what the Flyers have.
Now, if we want to stick to recent history that's fine too. UD has won two of the last three meetings between the two schools and fell in OT on the road in the most recent game, despite the fact that this year's team has essentially been kept together with duct tape and bailing wire. I'm extremely happy with the way the program is trending now under Archie Miller. With the recruits/transfers coming in for next year (one from Georgetown, one from LSU, and two recruits originally committed to St. John's and West Virginia), I'm fine with whichever way this transitional season plays out.

Dayton v X rivalry is pretty salty, I like it.
I was talking more the rancor between the two fanbases. I love heated/hated rivalries.
