Says on mlbtraderumors.com that yankees are in need of a starting pitcher and the guy says they could have something done in the next 11 days.
Harang is mentioned but onlly through speculation but I think the Reds need to capitalize on this one now

Harang for Swisher. Not to sure what Swisher is making, but if the money was pretty even then I would explore it.
I like that trade but i think it could be expanded..
maybe harang, dickerson, lincoln for swisher and edwar ramirez
Swisher would be a good addition to the bullpen.
When the Yankees sign that left-handed Cuban defector who slings the ball up there at 100 MPH their search for another starting pitcher will be over and done with.
Harang has been ruled out according to a couple reports. That either means something or nothing
http://twitter.com/BloggingBombers/status/6915912068Yankees are apparently close to a deal for a starting pitcher, says a source. Still working on who, but I'm told it's not a salary dump deal
Take that for what ever its worth. It might not be Harang but until it isnt I wouldnt shut the door. Arroyo could be possible. Its not like Harang or Arroyo are really making a killing considering the market. Harang's contract is only harder to deal because of the option.

I think that in a year or two, one of these guys - Frazier, Dorn, Valaika, Cumberland, Stubbs - will be ready to replace Dunn. They won't hit as many home runs as Dunn, but they should have similar OPS. - 757690, July 22, 2008
Alonso will be playing 1B for the REDS and batting 4th one year from today. - Kingspoint, July 9, 2009

Baseball is stupid.

I can elaborate if you would like, I just assumed what I meant was pretty self explanatory. I think it's idiotic, and is making the game horrible that certain teams will make trades that they know aren't making them better simply because there is no salary cap, and then teams like the yankees are able to afford all of the good players. Melky Cabera for Javier Vazquez? It's ridiculous, and it just keeps getting dumber. If a team does happen to get lucky with young players blossoming at the same time, you know it's only a matter of time before the likes of teams like the Yankees and Red Sox get to pluck them away. Florida for example, Josh Beckett is in Boston, AJ Burnett is in New York. Cleveland Had CC, he's now in New York. I'm sure the same is soon to come for guys like Votto, Cueto, Volquez, etc. Another example of this is the Reds discussing the trade of Brandon Phillips. In no way does that make this team better, It's just a money dump. If only 8 teams are going to try, and be able to compete, maybe it should be an 8 team league. Hopefully that helped clarify more what I meant.
Thanks for elaborating.
Agree with all you said, except for Brandon Phillips.
That guy is about to be VERY VERY overpaid here shortly, and is playing one of the easiest positions to replace in all of baseball. Sure I love his glove, but not for $12M.

I agree that Phillips will be overpaid in a couple years for a team like the Reds. However, thats what I think the problem with baseball is. There aren't a lot of 2nd basemen that are better than him, but they're going to trade him for players that aren't as good, because other teams are willing to pay him that with no salary cap. They can't afford to keep a player like him, and fill other areas, while some teams could. I really like Phillips a lot, and don't want him to be traded, but at the same time, realize they practically have no shot at winning paying him that kind of money.
