Pitcher Bobby Livingston signs 1-year deal with Reds

    Posted: Sunday Mar 2, 2008 1:59 PM

SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) -Left-handed pitcher Bobby Livingston agreed to a one-year contract with the Cincinnati Reds.
Livingston, who had surgery in September to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder, remains on the disabled list. He started 10 games for the Reds last season, going 3-3 with a 5.27 ERA.

The Reds also said Sunday they signed Juan Duran, a 16-year old outfielder from the Dominican Republic.

It's a bargain in this market.

But the important news is the signing of the 16-year-old Dominican outfielder. I'm already on the Duran Duran bandwagon.

Livingston did something at the plate last year that guys like Griffey, Dunn, Phillips, Conine, Ross, Valentin and Votto did not do. He had 4 hits in a game. I am sure many remember that July 16 game at Atlanta when he went 4-for-4 at the plate, had his 1st ML hit, his 1st ML RBI and his 1st ML win. I think we were all Bobby Livingston fans that day.

like Brian Jordan was told by Ozzie Smith, potential means you haven't done a darn thing, yet.

I doubt he pitches this year. If he does,he'll be hard pressed to crack the Louisville rotation.

When they claimed him, I thought Livingston's window of opportunity was this year. The reds pushed him up last season, probably correctly, and considering what he is, he did well.

I don't know what to make of his post injury chances. It's not like he was relying on smoke to get anybody out and it shouldn't have hurt his location any.

I'll take my scorecard and pencil and beer and hot dog and rage at the dips and cheer at the highs, but I'm not ever going to stop loving this game and this team and nobody will ever take that away from me." I think it won't be June or July before he gets back.

Re: Bobby Livingston Signs a 1-Year Deal

So what are we hearing about this 16 year old that we signed, a signing that is most likely more significant than the fact that the Reds and Bobby Livingston agreed to terms this year.
