Especially being a Law & Order buff, this is very disappointing.

One of the quintessential 70's and 80's character guys.

I never did quite feel right with him on Unsolved Mysteries, but he did a good job there too.

Championships for MY teams in my lifetime:
    Cincinnati Reds - 75, 76, 90
    Chicago Blackhawks - 10, 13, 15
    University of Kentucky - 78, 96, 98, 12
    Chicago Bulls - 91, 92, 93, 96, 97, 98

    Former Chicago cop.

First thing I remember him in was a great period cop show called Crime Story (they used a cover of Del Shannon's "runaway" as the theme song)

Dude turned into a great actor

I really enjoyed the first season of that show. It jumped the shark after it went to Vegas.

One of my favorite character actors. Great comedic timing. May he RIP.

Crime Story still comes to mind for me. That, and I had a trainer at a job once who was from Chicago with the last name Farina. I kept intending to ask her if she was related, but never got around to it.

I always figured he was a lot like the characters he played.
