What would you give up to Pit for Paulino

    From RotoWorld

After starting on Opening Day, Ryan Doumit appears poised to start over Ronny Paulino against the majority of right-handed pitchers.
Manager John Russell isn't calling it a platoon, but rather a "tandem." Cute. Paulino is scheduled to start against left-hander Mike Hampton on Wednesday, but no starter has been named for Thursday's game against righty Jair Jurrjens. It's appears quite possible Doumit could wind up the Pirates' primary catcher this season

I would do a deal with them. Considering how bad they are and how bad we need a catcher. We are set up enough for the future that even if we do give them something that can help lead to a good future, it wouldn't end up biting us in the butt

I'd trade Matt Maloney and maybe a few other AA prospects for Doumit if that's what it took.

Or what you you do is also give them Ross/Valentine for a backup catcher. Other is our backup.

OK, so basically trade our backup catcher for their backup catcher? Sounds like a great deal for the Pirates.

A collection of used toothpicks from Dusty Baker. Paulino's not much better than what we've got.

Are you guys talking about trading for Paulino or Doumit? Ronny rakes vs. lefties BTW.

Last I checked we don't have any catcher who is a career .287 hitter with a .338 OBP has only struck out 79 times both the past two years in 450 AB's.

Fine work, indeed. You should have also checked to see that he has a sub-400 career SLG and had an OBP of .314 last season in 450 ABs. He is also inferior to Ross defensively, with comparable PBs but worse SB/CS.
