Yeah, I have ESPN's Scorecenter app, and it came up as news on my iphone 2 hours ago.

An insane precedent is being set. Not only have Greinke and Hernandez set the market for top 15 pitchers, but the Anibal Sanchez deal may set the standard for what teams pay mediocre pitching. its scary.

With the way teams are trending toward big money to lock-up big name pitchers, the Mariners will get their money worth. Felix is flat out awesome.

Felix is awesome, but I think 7 years is too long for any pitcher. Pitchers have a much greater health risk than hitters, and for a (almost) 27 year old he has already logged a ton of innings.

This has been in the works for a while. The question was concerning what it would take.

Wow. Thoughts about how this compares to Votto's deal in terms of risk / reward?

It is only a 5-year extension on his current deal in terms of years though. He should be 32 at the end of it, so that's not too bad. Lots of money, but I think the M's made out well in terms of years.

Can't make the Latos/Bailey LTC negotiations any easier. Can I change my vote to neither?

I'd rather have this kind of money invested in a position player than a pitcher.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Maybe. But neither Latos nor Bailey is in the same ballpark as the King. Any comparison would be a stretch in actual negotiations, I think.

So, who tops $200M, Kershaw, Verlander, Price?

If anyone, I'd have to think Strasburg. He's only 24 and will be due for a monster deal soon.

Latos is better than Anibal Sanchez and Bailey is about equal. He got 5yrs and 80mil.

Exactly, once you have multiple years of dominance, then we can look into it, until then I don't see this affecting Latos or Bailey at all
