I am glad to see that Brett Marshall cleared waivers.

    SUCCESS!

I too am glad Marshall cleared waivers. He has legit stuff, and while control has never really been his strongest asset, it's never been this bad or anywhere near this bad before and he is coming off of a finger injury. Maybe with some time it gets better and he can be a useful reliever.

The Reds have signed INF Donnie Murphy and assigned him to Louisville

Jack Hannahan has also been sent to Louisville as part of his Major League Rehab Assignment. He went 4-12 over 4 games as a member of the Dayton Dragons.

The Brewers have acquired OF Josh Fellhauer from the Reds in exchange for cash considerations. He will report to AA Huntsville

I imagine Travis Matthair is next. What the Reds asked of some of the players is hard to deal with.....

Josh was always pleasant to deal with... Adios to a original Year 1 Wahoo.

Curious as to what you mean by this?
"In our sundown perambulations of late, through the outer parts of Brooklyn, we have observed several parties of youngsters playing 'base', a certain game of ball. Let us go forth awhile, and get better air in our lungs. Let us leave our close rooms, the game of ball is glorious"

To go on the DL when they were not hurt to make roster room for the cluster of Blaze players.

He wouldn't be the first Reds player to have that happen either. The Reds have been doing that for years and it's obviously kinda shady but I doubt they are the only team doing it.

My view is that it puts some of the players in a weird situation. Also, it doesn't look good for the Reds when they ask players to do it. I think the players would rather be released.

Unfortunately all teams do it. It certainly doesn't give the player a good feeling about how the organization feels about them though, I'm sure.

Guys I have heard having it happen to have almost always been released that coming off-season. So it wouldn't surprise to see Mattair go, like the previous poster mentioned, one way or another.

You're right about that. It doesn't exactly give you a confidence boost.

    Released: Tejada, Rowland-Smith, De Paula

The Reds have released pitcher Ryan Rowland-Smith, according to the International League transactions page. According to Chris Cotillo of MLBDailyDish.com (via Twitter), Rowland-Smith opted out of his deal. The veteran lefty has not managed to find his form this year, and owns a 4.66 ERA in 29 Triple-A innings for the Reds and Blue Jays. He also spent time with the Diamondbacks at the MLB level, allowing four earned runs in 7 1/3 innings.
