    "Paralyzer" by Finger Eleven

I absolutely hate this song, but it has somehow managed to make it onto the playlist of every major rock station in town. Today, just with random flipping during my commute (while O&A were in commercial), I heard the song being played on 94.9 and WEBN at the same time, then later on 94.1. In the afternoon commute, I heard it again on Q102 and finally, rounding out the presets, on KISS FM.

This song needs to die. Now.

Just had that playing on my iPod this morning. Gary Louris's penchant for writing hooks is amazing.

The thing about that album is how all of the "old school" Jayhawks fans don't like it because it "doesn't sound like the Jayhawks". Their loss.
We'll burn that bridge when we get to it.

I've resisted checking her out, as I was getting the whole LindsayLohan/Britney-here-comes-a-trainwreck vibe.

But she's a tremendous vocalist and her stuff is really compelling. It's much more reminiscent of old Motown and even Etta James than I would have imagined.

Rehab is a great song, and I like "F" Me Pumps too.

Is her album as good as the two singles? I fell in love with "Fidelity" the first time I heard it, and my cousin has been raving about her for a few years now.

I don't think so. They're the two strongest songs. I'll give it some time to sort that out though. She certainly didn't phone in the rest of the album.

My wife loves Regina Spektor. At the Austin City Limits festival, the number of people that gathered to see her play was staggering. Even Regina was stunned by it, said it was the most amazing thing she'd ever seen. Her music doesn't really do it for me but I was impressed by her stage presence and how gracious she was toward her audience.

She has really trainwrecked since I made that post, but I still like to listen to her too. That stuff is great in the car.

I am listening to Dave Brubeck.

So am I. I was in a jazz mood this morning.

Got to see Dave Brubeck play at the Kennedy Center earlier this year. The man's 80-some years old and has the chops of a man a third his age. Awesome stuff.

I listened to some of that Basie the other day, that's a wonderful album.
