My Run in with Sean Casey

Just thought I'd share this quick story:

I'm currently a student at the University of Richmond which happens to be Sean Casey's alma mater. I was out tonight at a fraternity party and I heard a rumor that Sean was there. At first I was skeptical but I went outside for some air and there he was. I went up to him and introduced myself and proceeded to talk to him for a couple of minutes about random stuff (I don't think it hurt that I was wearing a Brandon Phillips Reds Jersey, either). I'd always heard that Sean was one of baseball's "good guys" but I didn't really have any idea how true it really was.

acouple of friends of mine went to pittsburgh to catch a reds game. after the game they went to a local bar and was catching flack because they were decked out in Reds gear they were later approached by the waitress who handed them beers and said compliments of that guy at the bar. they looked over and sean waltzed over to their table and said. "nice hats"
    Witty signature.

What great stories, you guys. I think Sean is still truly a Red at heart...

I've said before and I'll say again - Sean is pure gold. With some guys you wonder if it's all an act, but with him I know it's 100% genuine. i had the chance to sit down with him a few years back and lay a big hurtin' on the BW3 in Montgomery (I think that's where it was). He can hold his own with the wings, but I out ate him. We both had the nastiest heartburn the next day.

My wife and I belong to the parish that is the Catholic Newman Student center for the University of Cincinnati (St. Monica/St. George Parish). While with the Reds, Casey called the parish and offered to come to the 5:30 p.m. mass (which is the primary mass for UC students) to speak with students afterwards. They never could get it to work with his schedule, but he's the one who called and offered. Fabulous guy.

Met Sean Casey at RedsFest a few years back. He is absolutely as advertised. Great guy.
