That someone will use this opportunity to rip Dusty?

Joey's interview with Lance > Walt's interview with Cunningham.

As I said earlier, the whole thing smacks of a GM passing the buck for his own failures. His inability to replace Ludwick and his underestimating of the Pirates. It doesn't make him a criminal and it's not exactly a reason to fire the guy, but it's unbecoming and unprofessional.

I think Joey took advantage of the opportunity to squash any thoughts of negative feelings between him and the front office.

He sounded intrigued to work with Price and to see what happens.

He said he liked that Price wanted to be more aggressive, to be a team that other teams dreaded to face.

He didn't take Jocketty's comments as a change or else ultimatum.

I felt he kind of thought the knee is what affected his change this season.

Votto's got his contract. There is no "or else.". Either Walt brings in the hitters and they improve or he doesn't and the same halting offensive dynamic continues.

How exactly does this hacking offense become "more aggressive." Charge the mound after every pitch?

Price went in to detail about what he would like in an offense. We have know idea what next season's offense will be until we know who the hitting coach will be, not to mention offseason changes.

The aggressive comments came more from a team atmosphere of baserunning, and how they approach their games and opponents.

    Re: Walt interview (with Cunningham)

I asked Walt Jocketty if Price is up to the task of disabusing Joey of the notion that a base on balls is as beneficial as a run scoring sacrifice fly.
This is really ridiculous. You know how many times Joey Votto walked with a man on 3rd and less than 2 outs? 18 times. You know how many of those walks were intentional? 11. So, Joey Votto had a whopping 7 chances where he could have turned a walk into a sac fly or a run-scoring ground out. 7! Out of 726 PA's, the Reds are worried about less than 1% of those.

Great piece of info. I'm curious, do you happen to know how many of those 7 teams:

    A. The runner on 3rd ended up scoring?
    B. Votto ended up scoring?
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.
