Ah yes...it's gonna be a good day. I picked The Bruce to get a hit/home run in my mlb.com beat the streak game, and my home run beat the streak game.
Benzinger backing and calling! And the 1990 world championship series belongs to the Cincinnati Reds!

It appears that Jerry Hairston is getting a ton of mileage out of his "hot" start.

The gap between his career OPS (.685) and his hot start (.796) will soon close and hopefully as it closes, Dusty will recognize that and cease to trot his really bad glove out to such a critical defensive position (SS).

Lineup still isn't ideal, but boy does it look better with Bruce in the 2 spot instead of Patterson.

I was just thinking, sans the speed, Bruce's downside looks an awful lot like Patterson's upside...
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

According to the National Weather Service page there is now a 30% chance of rain for tonight. Earlier today they had the rain ending this afternoon now there is a chance of rain until about 9 PM so they should get it in but there might be a delay.

I kind of like that, is Dunn batting behind him in the 3 spot, that would be grand. Hariston leading off while Janish sits??

No, do a search look up Chicago, Patterson, Dusty Baker, and you will see this is a rerun back as far as 2004. Baker always wanted Patterson to be that dream leadoff man and when that failed Hairston became the man, the manager is persevering if nothing else. This has all been played out before, with the exception of Jay Bruce.

Still an awful lineup, which is nothing unusual.

Someone needs to take away Dusty's flux capacitor before this crazy thing gets out of control.
