    Birthdays: 2/14

    Reds:

Kelly Stinnett (42) -Backed up Jason LaRue in 01-03. An original Arizona Diamondback in 1998. Has four sons, all of whose names start with "A"; the youngest is named "Ace".

Scott Scudder (44) -As of 2010, he was a coach for Sweden's national baseball team.

Keith Brown (48) -Like Scudder, he played on the 1990 championship team. As I recall he was a sinkerball pitcher, I always thought he deserved a better shot, but when you're not a #1 pick with a big fastball (like Scudder), opportunities can be scarce.

Will McEnaney (60) -One of his listed most-similar players is Bill Bray; I can totally see that.

Darrell Osteen (69) -Career ERA 8.05... 'Nuff sed...

    Others:

Dave Dravecky (56) -I was going to make this an all-Reds day, but Dravecky needs to be recognized.

IIRC, McEnaney closed out both the 75 and 76 World Series. I know he did in 75. Just not sure about 76.

    Yep he did.

He recently was in a bad motorcycle accident. He works at Galyans in Florida.

Thanks! I thought so but wasn't sure. I hope he will be OK. Those motorcycles are bad news sometimes.

today is also the birthday of Margaret Ethrige Knight, who invented the first machine that made paper bags.

...and there might be a possibility that she was Ray Knight's great grandmother?

I don't know if there's a baseball connection, but her family had quite an interest in the New Orleans 'aints for a while.
