Those New York fat cats are to blame!

I'll take it but I thought he was out and no block on Martin.

The call is that the catcher was blocking the plate. It's a good call, he was blocking the plate without the ball.

Tricky, though, because it was a force play. So understandable that Martin was in that posture.

Still, seems like the right decision.

If I was a Pirates fan, I'd expect Hurdle to get ejected. Not sure exactly what the REPLAY PERSON saw, but I do not agree. I am a REDS fan though... yes, another run!

Horrible ruling. Goes in the Reds favor, but horrible ruling. He had his foot on the plate. Where else is he supposed to put it on a force play?!?

No tag on a force play.

You can't throw your leg into the basepath without the ball.

    Re: 6/18/2014-Reds-Vs-Pirates Game 2

I'm a big fan of the anti-collision rules, but that just sucks for the Pirates. Martin shouldn't have set himself up on top of the plate, just like a 1B doesn't set himself up over 1B. It was the right call, but it's going to take some getting used to. I just wish they'd call it the same way at all the bases -- don't privilege home plate.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.
