What a mess.Gio Gonzalez 's name is mentioned as being innocent because he received only legal drugs.

I thought ESPN was reasonably legitimate, but I follow.
    May the Lord bless

Since when is ESPN not credible? The guy that is reporting this is the same that broke the Barry Bonds news, after all.

ESPN hasn't been credible for a long time. They worry more about clicks than truth and often play fast and loose. Want a score? Sure? Want actual journalism? Uh...no.

ESPN can be accused of being selective with what it reports and when. But when it reports something, it's usually pretty accurate. See: Newton, Cam. After all, the guy that is reporting this is one of the same guys that brought BALCO to the forefront. He's established his credibility on multiple occasions reporting on PEDS.

Agreed. We've reached a point with our media that such a wide range of partisan coverage is offered, people now choose their truth. Often ESPN's reportage doesn't coincide with folks' beliefs, thus they dismiss it.

I'm with, edabbs44. Certainly don't wish for stuff like this to happen, but when it's a character like Ryan Braun, who's fought charges tooth and nail, it feels a bit like vindication.

I'm not sure why you always seem to bring Cam up especially since the NCAA issued an unprecedented press release that exonerated Cam/Auburn of any wrongdoing and you've been warned several times by mods to give it a rest.

So please, for the sake of the board, give it a rest.

If you were concerned by the sake of the board, you'd take your response private, as you've been warned by mods several times.

The original ESPN report stated that people were soliciting money for Cam Newton in his recruitment. That turned out to be 100% accurate, a fact that Newton's father admitted. Thus, the NCAA ruling on Newton is absolutely immaterial to ESPN's correct and accurate reporting in the case. The NCAA did not exonerate Cam. They simply concluded they could not prove he had knowledge of his father's actions. Again, this is material because ESPN proved to have accurately reported the case.

ESPN has a well earned reputation of shoddy journalism and thin standards concerning sources.

Be specific. What situations have been shoddy and why were they shoddy. Surely if it's well earned, I imagine there should be no issues coming up with examples.

That is an excellent question. Hopefully someone smarter than myself can answer that. I think it definitely enters very tricky legal territory.

I think OTL is credible. That's their thing, investigative journalism.

I also think the doo doo is about to hit the fan.
