My "Cardinals fan wife" wants to go to the game on Friday night and take my boys... I am fairly certain I can't make it happen because of conflicts (and being 6 1/2) hours away but it seems even she is interested in seeing this one. Of course it wouldn't surprise me at all if she looked at me when the Big Red Machine took their places on the field and said some kind of smart remark about the last time the Reds being any good was when these guys played.

I remember one time going out to the mound to talk with Bob Gibson. He told me to get back behind the batter, that the only thing I knew about pitching was that it was hard to hit.

Such language by a spouse is inexcusable. I would take the kids, leave her there and make her walk home.

They're not all together for a lot of those appearances (and they are all getting older too) so this is a big deal for Reds fans.

An MLB.com reporter asked what one thing Votto couldn’t do. “I can’t skate or play hockey,” Votto said. “Well, I can skate ... but I can’t stop.”
