    Directv and the Reds...

Louisville is the Reds viewing area. You should get every game aired on Fox Sports CN. Don't bother getting the Extra Innings package, it won't get you anymore Reds games. (unless you want to watch other teams) Thank you.

DId you go through DirectTV or did you go to a local retailer? I am going to switch from Echostar it DTV soon, and I'm not sure which way I am gonna do it.
I've been to dinner at Jimmy Buffet's house, and I've eaten it at a homeless shelter. And there's great joy and harrowing terror to be found in both places.

I'd recommend EI... just to watch other teams play, watching JUST the Reds skews the reality of MLB.

Also for about $12 a month you can get ALL the Fox feeds from all over the country, meaning you get every teams (except Comcast Sports Channel teams) pregame, post game, and team highlight shows... again a great way to see what's going on outside the reality bubble of the NL central

That's why I am switching from DishNetwork to DirectTV. Not being able to get EI last year, I missed being able to watch the west coast games late at night.

I made the switch from Dish Network to DirectV yesterday, so I could get EI, and I also got Superfan. I noticed FoxSportsCincinnati is on 638. There is also 638-1. Anyone know what this is?

Also wondering if DirectV shows FSC games in hi-def when they are broadcast that way.

So Dish Network doesn't have EI? I guess I missed that. I'd leave 'em too.

638-I, I was told, is for the HD broadcasts. However, if you are outside of the Reds viewing area, 638 is always blacked out. They force you to buy MLB EI.

What I am wondering is, will DTV broadcast the FSN HD broadcasts through MLB EI. I also have superFan and this is supposed to give you access to HD, but last year, it was only the two (a day) HD broadcasts that MLB EI chose to show (on a special channel).

We will see. I think it is going to take another few years and a few more satellites before the whole HD thing is really straightened out. Now that I have a 42 inch HD plasma I am hoping that it works OK this year (77 Reds games in HD) but I have my doubts.

I think if you have the HD package from Directv then you get everything that you normally get in HD. So yes, I would think FSN-HD games would be broadcast in HD, especially if you have Superfan and all that.

    Re: Directv and the Reds...

But I cannot watch the Reds on channel 638....which I assume is displayed in HD for the 77 games FSN Ohio has said would be in HD. I am forced to watch the game via the MLB EI channels (something like 730-755). I pay for absolutely every add-on you can pay for with DTV. I have HD, I have the FOX Sports Channel package, I have MLB EI and I have MLB SuperFan. So we will see.....btw, the Customer Support folks at DTV have absolutely NO idea what the answer to the question is.....I have talked to them several times.

I also have the EI package and my recollection from last year was if the EI coverage of the Reds was their (the Reds media) broadcast, then you could also see the game on 638...I would try to find the "good luck" channel with little success LOL ...so I think that if EI has Grande, Welsh et al covering the game, then we'll have the capacity to see it on 638 HD...I'm hopeful!!

they are saying, "up to 40 games per week in HD." I don't think you'll have a problem. I signed up for Superfan the other night and I get FSN Cin too. I'm in baseball heaven right now.
