SP for tonight:
Carroll for Louisville
Thompson for Carolina
Villarreal for Bakersfield
Smith for Dayton
Scott Carroll loaded the bases on two bloop singles and a walk, but was able to get a double play to end the inning.
Thanks for the updates Doug, I need something to do during the rain delay.
Yorman Rodriguez had a hustle RBI double (line drive, but he turned a single into a double). Dayton is tied at 1.
Todd Frazier had a 2 RBI double. Drove in Cozart (single) and Alonso (double). Bats up 2-1.
Daryl Thompson gave up 2 HR's and 4 runs in the 2nd. Carolina down 4-1.
Scott Carroll gave up a 3 run HR to the same guy he gave up a solo HR to earlier in the game. First one was on a hanging curveball. Second one was on a curve that was low and would have been a ball had it not been swung at. Bats down 4-2.
Donald Lutz with a solo HR to lead off the 6th. Dragons up 2-1.
I like Lutz - a good hitter, plays good defense too. He's saved at least one error for Hamilton in the past that I've seen.
Josh Smith had another outstanding start (6 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 4 K), but Dayton was nipped in the bottom of the ninth, 3-2. Sharkie Rogers took the loss. In addition to the HR and two hits by Lutz, Devin Lohman moved up to No. 2 in the order and went two for three to raise his average to .250 after a horrendous first week or two. The loss snapped Dayton's six-game winning streak and dropped the Dragons under .500 again at 8-9.
7-1. Help is on the way though in about a week or so.
Louisville scored four in the eighth to go up 6-4. Big blow was a 3-run HR by Frazier, who has 5 RBIs in the game.
Poor Carolina's getting hammered, 8-1. The bright spot is that Miguel Rojas, who started the season in extended spring (presumably hurt), continues to hit above his previous standard, going 3 for 4 to lift his average to to .367 (very small sample). By all accounts, Rojas is the type of SS who can play in the big leagues if he hits at the Janish level.
