Watched "The Social Network" on a long flight I took last weekend. I actually really liked the movie and thought it was extremely well cast.

Is it sad that I've only seen ONE of the best picture nominees?

I like Eisenberg and Franco for best actor. Either one could win, I think both are deserving.

Colin Firth has been raking in all the 'Best Actor' awards at the other ceremonies. At this point, he's most likely a shoe-in for the Oscar as well.

I actually completely forgot about him. I haven't seen the movie but I've been hearing he was very, very good.

Yeah the other four can enjoy the parties because that one is over.

Agreed. And Natalie Portman should be a shoe-in for best actress.

Based on all the other award shows, I'd say every actor/actress award is already decided.

    Best Actor: Colin Firth
    Best Supporting Actor: Christian Bale
    Best Actress: Natalie Portman
    Best Supporting Actress: Melissa Leo

I haven't seen any ceremony that has differed on those categories, and I don't expect the Oscars to be any different.

    Re: Oscar Nominations are out

Kinda shocked that Christopher Nolan didn't get a nomination for Best Director -- I thought what he did with "Inception" was light-years better than Aronofsky's "Balck Swan" (which I found to be highly disappointing).

Also kinda shocked that "The Town" didn't make the cut for Best Picture. With 10 slots, that's pretty inexcusable -- especially since they wasted a nomination on "Toy Story 3," knowing full well that it has it's own category to win (Best Animated), and that the Academy is never going to vote an animated film as BP.

I agree with the assessment that the Actor/Actress statues are decided, at this point. I'd also say BP is a two-horse race between "Social Network" and "The King's Speech." My gut tells me that "Kings" will win, but my last two BP predictions (Frost/Nixon in '09 and Avatar in '10) have been way off.

It will probably shake out that way, but Annette Benning could beat Portman and Melissa Leo and Amy Adams might do some vote splitting and someone else could win. Rush could beat Bale, but it is unlikely and Firth already has been sent the trophy.

Best picture will either be "Kings", "Social Network" or "Black Swan". My personal opinion is "Black Swan", but I think the "Social Network will end up taking it.

You predicted that Avatar would win Best Picture?

Won it at the Globes. Thought they'd reward Cameron for reviving the "must see it in theaters" marketing for an industry suffering harm from the wrath of home theaters.
