What's the deal with Todd Frazier?

Just barely cracking the 700 mark with a 701 OPS. 542 OPS for the month of May. Average all the way down to 224.

Obviously he's in a funk, I don't think he's nearly this bad. But how good is he? How far can we expect him to bounce back?

Just a note of interest re Frazier's role on this team. Henry Rodriguez is tearing it up for May: .329/.364/.507/.870. 7K's in 73 AB's, 3HRS, 15 RBI's. I'm not sure if in Dustyball third basemen can bat second, but HRod could solve this problem for us sooner than we think, with Todd maybe going to LF.

Is the Toddfather going to outhit X-Paul and Lutz in the short term even though?

Henry Rodriguez isn't really the solution to any problems.

Pitchers now have his M.O......Todd's turn to adjust.

Good comments on the radio broadcast today about a change in his approach while in Philly.....time will tell if he gets it figured out.

A lot of us were saying he's a .250/.320/.450 hitter so his OPS is only 70 points off that, which isn't really that large of a discrepancy at this point in the season (just ask Jay Bruce)...

Ya that's what I see it as too.

He's a guy who swings hard, misses lots, and when he does hit it good things happen. Almost like a mini-Bruce. When things aren't going well, he looks really ugly doing it. But when he's connecting, looks unstoppable.

So your guess is he played way above his head last year?

Kind of a bummer because I had hopes of Todd continuing to be a real star instead of likely just a good player, but I think I agree.

That's another question I wanna put out there, what was the nature of Todd's 2012? Luck? He seemed to take a better approach last year though that I don't feel like I see this year.

His 2012 was probably some skill, a little luck and a little league unfamiliarity. Now that the pitchers have figured him out, he's hit the dreaded sophomore slump. I think he'll come out of it, but who knows when...?

He is striking out exactly as often as last year and walking more. Power is down a little bit and his BABIP is down 40 points.

I don't necessarily mean his walks/strikeouts as much as his pitch selection and which ones he does swing at.

Frazier's ground ball rate is up this year. His line drive rate is down. His fly ball rate is slightly down. Similar pattern to Cozart, except Cozart's fly ball rate is flat compared to 2012. Both are hitting more grounders this year.
