Sex offender charged in Florida teen’s death
David Onstott faces murder charges in death of Sarah Lunde BREAKING NEWS The Associated Press Updated: 2:20 p.m. ET April 17, 2005 This breaking story will be updated. RUSKIN, Fla. - A registered sex offender confessed to killing a 13-year-old girl who disappeared a week ago, saying he broke into her house and choked her to death, the sheriff said Sunday. David Onstott, 36, was charged with first-degree murder, Hillsborough County Sheriff David Gee said. Investigators found Sarah Lunde’s body in an abandoned fish pond Saturday. She was last seen April 9, hours before her 17-year-old brother came home to find the front door wide open and his sister gone. Onstott, who had been convicted of rape and once dated the girl’s mother, has been held without bail in the Hillsborough County Jail since Tuesday on unrelated charges. Deputies were also scouring the rural community about 20 miles south of Tampa for clues. |
