Puffy, TRL is wanting us to add information for Jim Coombs in that thread...just stuff like age, R/L Throw/Bat, position, etc.

I say Jim Coombs is right handed, a switch hitter, and plays OF (don't specify RF, LF, or CF)

I was trying to find some records of this guy who used to attend here back in the 70s. I had to go to this book where we keep the old microfilm logs at to finally find this guy. Anyway as I was looking for this guy's name I found a familiar name in there. This guy is a former Reds player who took a few courses here in 1979 and 1983.

I guessed Billy McCool because I actually went to high school with his son. That kid had LOADS of natural talent, but he was the laziest person I've ever met. He could have cared less about baseball, it was almost like he was pressured into playing it. He could have been real good if he would have even attempted to try.

Yea, I did. Billy used to go to all of our high school games. He was real supportive of the team, and the players in general. He helped me get a tryout with Gene Bennett and another scout with the Pirates when I was a senior in H.S. I still believe his presence helped me get a scholarship to college in some way, not sure how, because he always denied ever talking to anyone at Kent St., but I think he talked to someone.

He's a real nice guy.
