Moore takes shot at Gibson while being extremely Ironic

Quote:
Moore Digs at Gibson

Oscar-winner Michael Moore has taken a veiled swipe at Mel Gibson's controversial movie The Passion Of The Christ - his revenge after Gibson refused to back Fahrenheit 9/11. Moore was disappointed when the Australian heart-throb actor pulled out his financial backing of his expose of George W. Bush's regime and his reaction to the September 11 terrorist attacks. The Braveheart star then refused to join Moore for a joint discussion with Time Magazine's editors, who were considering them for a joint Man Of The Year award last year. On the subject of Gibson's biblical opus, Moore tells Vanity Fair, "If I were to make a movie, it would be about turning the other cheek... And the meek shall inherit the earth." Moore added he was disturbed at, "How easily the vulnerable can be manipulated, twisted by images on the screen."
Bolded.

I wholeheartedly supported what Moore was trying to do with F 9/11, but, I mean really...pot? This is the kettle.

Film is a powerul medium, but as far as reality goes it's still two dimensional and a product of the filmmakers will and vision.

Kinda like televison news.

I didn't realize the story of Jesus Christ was "manipulated" and "twisted." That would be UNfairenheit 9/11.

Michael Moore is a big, fat, stupid white man.

Was he being serious with that remark? Seriously, I think Moore likes to push people's buttons any way he can, and he surely knew how that remark would be scrutinized. I almost think that everything he does is a game to him. Not saying that that's good nor bad, but maybe the way it is.

He reminds me of the mischievous kid on the back row of class.

It has been for centuries. It all depends on your interpretation of the Bible.

I thought they were at opposite ends of the political spectrum?

Is Mel Gibson even a US citizen?

I just think this was an ill-fated collaboration from the start.

Mel Gibson was born in Peekskill, New York. So yes, he is a citizen.

Other things Peekskill is famous for - where Pataki was mayor before he ran for Gov of New York and where the ficticious school Tootie, Jo, Natalie and Blair went to (Facts of Life for all you born under a rock).

Mel Gibson was born on Jan. 3, 1956. He had just turned 17 years of age when America's involvement in the Vietnam War ended in Jan. 1973, so I think it is a stretch to blame him for not serving in that conflict.

I'm not blaming him at all (in fact it was his brothers that the dad was more concerned with).
