I'm not Republican or Democrat.
But I've gone all around this crazy world,

An' I've been to the DMZ.
I've walked on the sand in Baghdad,
Still don't have all of the answers I need.
But I guess I wanna know where she's been,

So I hope that lady in her mini-van,
Turns on her radio and hears this from me.
As she picks up her kids,
From their private school,
An' drives home safely on our city streets.
Or to the building where her church group meets:

I like the song's lyrics, but there has been controversy over how the song is promoted. On 12/18/04, one day after calling her fan club head, Chuck Walter, her "best friend," Chely Wright dismissed Walter after it was disclosed that 17 members of her fan club posed as members of the military or their families to promote the song.
Chely Wright does claim to have written the song based upon an incident that happened to her after she put a Marine Corps sticker she received from her brother, who is a Marine, on her vehicle.
