Re: Great Musical Runs
Ira needs to get his guitar out again though. Pedro and I saw them a few months back and it was keyboard hell.

Sure. Now go get me some cheese whiz, boy!! Captain Beefheart was the opening act for Jethro Tull's "Thick as a Brick" tour. It was my freshman year in college. I stayed in line for hours, and hit a grand slam with 8 third row center tickets. My brother was a drummer in a rock band at the time, and he brought up his hippie buddies for the show. Good times.

Re: Great Musical Runs
I saw Honeymoon Suite open for Jethro Tull. Tull was fine, Ian got his flute on, but Honeymoon Suite is by far the worst band I've ever seen and I've seen Krokus.
Guided by Voices probably belongs on this list. Donna Summer and James Brown too. I'd be inclined to add Sisters of Mercy as well.

Re: Great Musical Runs
Excellent call on the Kinks, btw, WOY.
I would say the Pixies four-LP-length run was untarnished if not for the awful, flaccid Bossanova. |

Propeller Vampire on Titus Bee Thousand Alien Lanes Under the Bushes Under the Stars. This date in Guided by Voices: They played a show with The New Bomb Turks and Thomas Jefferson Slave Appartments at the Alrosa Villa in 1996. I remember falling face first into a pile of leaves and moss and compost in somebody's back yard at the afterparty. Ron and Bob still make fun of me to this very day...Haven't seen Bob for awhile, though.
