This is a professional organization afterall, or its supposed to be.
or fired. DanO may have been a decent player personal person, but he sucks as a GM as do his hirings which good GM's make.

So now they're re-drafting folks whom they've had ample opportunity to sign already????

Good lord. Just shoot me. Or them.

Koby Clemens, son of Roger, went to the Astros in the 8th round.

This photo was taken in Colorado a few days ago. Apparently that's Rockies GM Dan O'Dowd on the left and O'Brien on the right.

Re: 2005 Draft Thread

Loo told the Reds no because he wants to stay in school one more year.

It's a draft and follow again.

If he puts up numbers like he did last year, it's a smart move.

Re: 2005 Draft Thread

The Giants just took SS Anthony Contreras, a SS from San Jose St.

I liked him.

Dagburnit, the Reds are gonna teach Milton Loo a lesson!! We pick you, have a year to sign you, but you don't sign with us, dagburnit, we'll draft you again so we have another year to sign you.

Re: 2005 Draft Thread

The Reds didn't have "ample" oppourtunity to sign Loo. Read mcclain's article. I think he signs next year.

Absolutely - when a team is devoid of positional players like the Reds are right now it makes sense to use a 9th round pick on a kid who has already told you he is going for another year of school.

The Reds needed his permission to draft him again. It doesn't sound like there were any animosity involved in negotiations.

Interesting.. but if that was the issue, couldn't the Reds worked out a deal with Loo, similiar to Dunn, where he'd start out only playing during the summer, and could have a short season to finish school? Would've saved a draft pick this year.

Re: 2005 Draft Thread

Loo was listed as one of the top 200 players available for the draft by BA. I think the chances of him getting picked again were pretty high.
