That sounds like what Yoda would predict.

Part of me wants to say Vijay, but my brain says no. I don't know, I'll go with Phil at Pinehurst.

Re: US Open predictions

I see Jerry Smith from Oskaloosa, IA has qualified. His grandfather was/is a friend of my grandfather's. They run the local public course there which I've played many times. Jerry actually flied my grandfather out to Boston when he qualified for the Open when it was played at The Country Club.

I'm picking Rory Sabbatini to hit at least one green from 100+ yards out while players are still on it.

Re: US Open predictions

He's the most disliked man on tour by the other players, even before his recent wack out.

When I went to the Phoenix Open, watching Crane golf is akin to watching paint dry. And that's putting it nicely. So I understand Rory's freak out.

Mike Weir is another guy I watched who just took forever to get ready. And I like Weir.

I forgot to mention that I hate Davis Love. Weasel.

Sorry for that mini-rant, just wanted to state that.

Tiger is definitely locked and loaded too.

He was hitting drivers 345 - 350 on the range, flying them 325 when I was watching him Tuesday.

The course is in perfect shape. The brown spots you see on TV are no problem, they play no differently than the rest of the course. It's pretty tricky to get the course to peak at the right time, especially with the weather we've had in the sandhills this year.

The greens on 5 and 13 will be very interesting to watch all week. Tuesday, they were mowing, rhen rolling, then mowing again and a USGA official came out and stopped them on 13. It's already rolling 11.5 on the stimpmeter. That's about like putting on the hood of your car and stopping it at the hood ornament.
Good post, RFS62. I was there, yesterday, and the course was in wonderful shape for the open. Very tough, but very fair, as well. Sorry we couldn't get together.

By the way, MWM, you will love the stadium course at the TPC. Played it two years ago. Word to the wise. Stay in the fairway. The bermuda rough is brutal.

Re: US Open predictions

Randy, I'm sorry I wasn't able to go yesterday too. I would have loved to meet you and your son. I had to drive up to Virginia and back for work, and I spent all day today writing up reports and watching on TV. I went to the first two practice rounds, and I'm going this weekend.

My company was there yesterday and today, though, and they loved it too.

Now I'm off for the week, and playing tomorrow in the "Coveted Dorfman Cup".
