Local IMAX theatres?

Are there any working local IMAX theatres in the Cincy/Dayton area? Not like the one at the USAF Museum, but ones that show real movies. The last time I was at Newport on the Levee, the theatre there was closed. I'm curious because Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is being released in IMAX next month, and yes, I'm a geek.

Re: Local IMAX theatres?

There is one at the Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal... as a matter of fact, it's named after Lindner... Robert D. Lindner Family OMNIMAX Theater.

Actually, I just found out there's also one in Springdale.... here's the blurb, which confirms that the one in Newport did indeed close it's doors (I didn't know that!).

Quote:
"Showcase Cinemas Springdale (Tri County Area) will be one of the first National Amusements theaters in the country to install an Imax theater system for first-run movies.

National Amusements Inc. and Toronto-based Imax Corp., the large-format film company, Monday announced plans to install Imax systems designed for multiplex theaters this year at four National complexes, including Springdale, which has 18 theaters and 4,500 seats.

Maybe this one will go over better than the one at Newport on the Levee, which closed last June and is in bank foreclosure proceedings."

I don't know about the other areas you mentioned though there is one in Indianapolis.

Re: Local IMAX theatres?

The one in Newport was too close to the terminal, bad planning.
