EA Sports in process of making for college baseball video game

http://ps2.ign.com/objects/766/766866.html

As a huge fan of college baseball, all I can say is woohoo! I have been wanting someone to create a college baseball game for a long time; finally, someone has granted my wish.

IGN Sports: How many NCAA teams are in the game?

Ben Brinkman: There are 285 universities that sponsor teams in NCAA Baseball. In MVP06 we couldn't add all the features I listed above AND add every NCAA D-1 team. Working with our licensing partners we pared the list down to what we believed to be the 14 top conferences that encompasses 128 teams. Next year we hope to have every D-1 team.

I hope the Big West and West Coast Conferance are added in this game, reason being those are the conf. that Pepperdine and Long Beach State play in... and those are two teams that I follow closely.

Hopefully, this game would feature some prodigious aluminum-bat HRs. I wonder, though, if the metallic "Ting" of the bats would get more tiresome in a video game than it does on TV?

I hope we can turn that sound off, or make them play with wooden bats

Baseball America has been pumping it on their website for over a month now. I guess they will be in on the prospects like the MLB game.

EA must be looking for something to replace MVP since they lost the rights to Take Two.

I think it's a great idea and should be a successful franchise in the future for them. Hopefully it will also add popularity to the college game.

I'm looking forward to it -- combining baseball with the incredible depth of the Dynasty mode (recruiting, record keeping, etc.) in the NCAA football series.

Finally a sports game where Tulane isn't absolutely awful!

Website says Xbox and Ps2, I'd guess Xbox 2 as well if it comes out next year.

Oh, you give me a year or so, and I get them going pretty well. The good thing about them is that they play in the Superdome in the game (unlike this year, where they've played every game in a different stadium), and the game just assumes if you get them playing well, it would be possible for the university to sell the dome out ( ). So you get all the benefit of building a small program up, plust the ability to get a massive homefield advantage.

So far I'm in the middle of my 4th consecutive national title run.

But, that might have to halt, so I can do that whole "exam" thing...

Re: EA Sports in process of making for college baseball video game

The game's makers were in Clemson a few months back taking photos, getting dimensions, etc. at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. So it's obvious they're going for as much realism as possible.

Should be fun.
