Brag on my spouse thread

I know we have all had fun with some of the threads about marriage, picking on those irritating things our spouses do and all, but I really need to praise my wife right now. Since I broke this arm, I have been pretty useless around the house, and it has been even worse since I had the surgery and got the heavier cast. The break in the wrist makes the fingers on that hand useless since any attempt to grip anything causes a lot of pain.

So here is my wife, doing all of the yard work and house work, all of the cooking, and all of the laundry. On top of that, she has to help me with just about everything in the morning. She's helping me with the shower, keeping my cast dry and my arm elevated because it hurts too much to try to hold it up without a sling. Then I find the toothpaste on the brush for me and then she has to help me get dressed. About the only thing I can manage on my own is shaving. Then in between getting both of us ready, she somehow manages to fix breakfast and have it on the table by the time I'm finished getting my briefcase assembled for the day. That's tricky with one hand. When I get home this evening, she will have already gotten a load of laundry done and supper will be on the table when I walk in the door. Then she will finish the dishes and laundry before 9:00 and sit and watch MNF with me while we play Scrabble on the coffee table. Getting ready for bed I have to submit to her ministrations once again, help with getting out of my clothes and into bedtime appropriate attire, the whole toothpaste thing again, and then it's off to bed, only to wake up the next day and start the whole cycle again. Intimacy has a few challenges, but I won't go into detail there. It does help me ignore the pain some.

And do you know how often I hear her complain? None. I honestly don't know what I would do without her, and it's not just the physical things she helps me with. Maybe women have this natural nurturing instinct or something, but she's darn good at it. She might get on my nerves at times, but she is in so many ways my better half and I can't say how much I appreciate everything she does and the positive attitude she keeps throughout. I have been getting down lately because of my inability do do much of anything and she is always trying to keep my spirits up. She has been a real blessing to me and just one more thing to thank God for daily.

Here's to good spouses and all the little things they do.

This is a little too politically charged. I'm going to have to lock it.

I hope I never break an arm.

My girlfriend would call me a big baby and to do it myself.

It's the left arm that's broken, in two places. If you're going to break one, you might as well get your money's worth.

Re: Brag on my spouse thread

I never thought of it that way ORH. I've tried for years to do less work around here and get my wife to do it all, and you've shown husbands everywhere how to do it.

Why didn't any husbands think of this before?

one flimsy chair and a moment of stupidity (which comes natural to us Tim the Toolmen)

Re: Brag on my spouse thread

My wife has put me through college over the last 3 years, and I am finally about to graduate. Up until this past semester, I have worked part time. Now, due to student teaching, I am not working at all. To all the sacrifices she has made, and for believing in me, I know that she is a God send. Like the OldRightHander said, we do complain about our spouses, but yet we need to give credit where credit is due.

Re: Brag on my spouse thread

I've been married for almost 25 years. I have a wonderful wife, 3 great kids, a mortgage, mucho bills, a thining hairline yet hair growing everywhere else, Metamucil is a diet staple, I can't afford my Viagra payments, and a backyard full of moles.

What more could a guy ask for?

When I broke my leg and ankle and had an external fixator, mr creek had to clean the pin sites every day, twice a day, for months and months. And this is a man who gets queasy at the sight of a paper cut. He was a real trooper.
