Some great stuff
from Keith law
at least the Reds were left out of the article. While WK didn't do anything good, he didn't do anything incredible stupid either(which may be high praise in the current environment). Quote:

Re: Some great stuff
Interesting that he takes Zito to task for not going to a New York team.
Mr. Law sounds very disappointed by that. I could name off 30 posters here on Redszone who know more about baseball than most of these guys who write for ESPN. I hope Law doesn't turn into one of the usual ESPN writers; I know he was with Scouts, Inc before he went to ESPN. |

Re: Some great stuff
Since he was mentioned in the article, what do you guys think about that Matt Murton kid in Chicago? Since he might be going to the bench you think the cubs might move him?
.303/.370/.462 in his (albeit) short carear. Seems like he might have some promise. Makes Freel and/or Deno mega-tradeable and assuming he contiunes to develop makes for a nice OF player with some ommpf to add to the line up.

Re: Some great stuff
My take on that was not that he was taking Zito to task for not going to NY(he does take him to task for being a #3 masquerading as a #1). His issue is with the media(and Boras), who seemed to create a perception had him signed, sealed and delivered to the Mets. As it turns out he only moves across the bay instead of across the country

Think they'll take Weathers or Cormier for him?

That is "some great stuff," Flyer. Thanks for the post.
I totally agree with his take on the Bill Stoneman moves this winter.

Re: Some great stuff
I agree with about the whole daggone article myself. Although I admit I usually don't care for this guy!
Problem is that the players have the leverage to get whatever they want within the realms of that particular market. It's going ot get worse before it ever gets better for baseball i'm afraid. Hey, MLB take a good long look at what happened to NHL. At some point you 2 will drive us fans away. Although Hockey is completely different, I can still see the same end result if they don't get a grip on the dollars that are being tossed around.
