Re: Reds claim LHP Gosling, DFA Luke Hudson

i wanted Hudson DFAd back in December when those two young lefties hit waivers from the Dodgers...can't think of their names right now.

however, i like this, at least we know Krivsky doesn't think Hudson is the Ace of Aces that he's been made out to be by certain folk.

Re: Reds claim LHP Gosling, DFA Luke Hudson

interesting note on Gosling:
June 2, 1998: Drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 14th round of the 1998 amateur draft, but did not sign.

and Gosling's numbers: link

he seems to be a victim of Kansas City like acceleration.

I don't see a lot in Gosling. But he's better than Luke Hudson, and that's enough to justify the move. Little upgrades add up.

This is a good move to pick up Gosling. Hopefully Hudson clears waivers and we can assign him to AAA.

Was mentioned in another thread that this kid was worth a gamble, believe it was doc.scott. But this is the exact kind of moves that should be done , hey who knows maybe next a pitcher who Krivsky loves and he um ah gets rid of er ah dare i say Womack , Is not like i dont like tony but , he truly has no purpose on the roster.

So, guys, what is it about Gosling that blows your skirts up? The 1.82 WHIP or the .860 OPSA?

I believe we have our first Krivsky detractor. I guess the question simply is, is he an upgrade to Hudson and does he have a chance to make the roster? And what other options do they have really?

I know nothing of Gosling, and he's nits either way I suppose.

Nah, not a detractor, exactly. Honestly, the guy's track record is foggy, but where it's clear, it's not all that thrilling.

Yeah I'm just yankin' your mullett FCB.

I really do not know if he has more real upside than Hudson at this point, I have no worthy opinion.

I'm guessing the Hudson decision might've been influenced by Beattie's "these guys suck, thanks, see you later" assessement.

Wow, it actually happened.

I still think Luke Hudson has a minor shot of becoming a successful reliever, though. Better than Mr. Bong.

The way Luke hits he might want to think about switching to 3rd or the OF. Pull double duty like Kieshnick.
