Frank Menechino

I must admit I didn't know anything about this guy. So I looked up his stats and was surprised to see that (apparently) the guy has some OB skills (in the past). Got to the ML late (28).

Maybe, I'm looking wrong, but he seems quite a bit better than Womack (not difficult), and at least as good as Aurilia (with the bat). I'm guessing a LOT cheaper than both, too.

Can he field? Am I crazy thinking he'd be a better backup IF than those guys?
Is he coming off an injury?

Who signed this guy? Krivsky, Kullman or O'Brien?

Re: Frank Menechino

O'Brien signed him, and I agree that he's a more viable option than Womack.

Re: Frank Menechino

He's an average defender at 3rd and 2b, a bit slow but won't embarass you at short. Think Aurilia with a little better range. I'm guessing at his age short is probably not a good idea. He can take a walk but isn't a great contact guy. He's got a little pop, but is more of a gap type guy.

Without a doubt, assuming he's 100% healthy (and I have no idea if there's any reason for concern), he would be a useful guy to have on the bench -- much more-so than Womack or the typical hacks we keep on hand.
