Re: Game Thread: Korea v. Taiwan (World Baseball Classic)

Jae Seo got chased from the game by that pesky pitch count.
Byung Hyun Kim came in.

Korea leads 2-0 in the bottom of the 5th. Taiwan has only 2 hits.

Orestes Destrade (remember him?), who knows a thing or two about playing ball in Asia, is doing color commentary.

I remember when he use to play for the Columbus Clippers. My friends brothers were the bat boys for the Clippers while he was there. That's funny. I haven't heard that name in years.

He's a relatively bright guy. He fills in on XM from time to time. Trivia note: Jim Hendry (Cubs GM) was his high school baseball coach. A couple years after he graduated, Jim Hendry quit, and a guy soon-to-be-named "A-Rod" took over at shortstop and at quarterback on the football team.

I have enjoyed hearing Orestes Destrade on the XM. Of course I've also learned the real story behind Billy Ripken's baseball card controversy.

Heath you see that play by the Taiwain SS?

Nice rob of a liner and quick thinking to double up the guy on 2nd.

Taiwan's starting pitcher isn't half bad either.

Re: Game Thread: Korea v. Taiwan (World Baseball Classic)

Japan just beat down China to the tune of 18-2. Mariners fans everywhere are wondering why Ichiro was still in the game in the 8th inning of a 18-2 game. The China team played some of the worst defense I have ever seen. They committed four errors...two of which were routine flyballs that were dropped.
