Random Pena trade thought: Nats/Cubs
I'll preface this by saying I don't think it will happen, but it seems like a reasonable deal for all involved:
Nats Give: Soriano, Low minors pitcher Get: Pena, Milton Reds Give: Pena, Milton, 3MM Get: Nolasco, Hill, Low minors pitcher Cubs Give: Nolasco, Hill Get: Soriano, 3MM You could add some minor guys or change the Cubs minor leaguers or whatever to balance it out, but that would be the gist of it. The Reds would pay the cubs a tad to lower the hit they'd be taking salary wise, but still be shedding a bunch of salary. The Reds would get some arms close to the majors, the Cubs would get a second baseman and 3rd power bat, and the Nats get a LF who Bowden loves, a back end rotation starter who will fare much better in RFK. Now I don't know that much about either Hill or Nolasco, so perhaps they're too much/little. I'm open to thoughts though...

I think Hill is going to be something.. and would like to aquire him. The Nats have shown interest in both Pena and Milly and obviously are handcuffed with the Soriano situation. This deal might actually be the best forum trade senerio I've seen all year. Although I.. no doubt am out of my league when saying this, but would want to deal Dunn before I dealt Mo. Maybe to the Pads:
SD Gets: Dunn Belisle Reds Get: Adrian Gonzalez Cesar Carrillo Sean Thompson |

I will ignore the above. I might as well trade Adam Dunn for a box of Sunflower seeds because they have the potential of being sunflowers. If Dunn needs to be moved, he gets moved for established, young pitching. He's a young, established hitter, he should get traded for similar. He's no longer potential.

And before we start talking about trading Wily Mo, lets see how he does playing everyday. I have high hopes for this kid, and I don't want to just trade him away before I see how he does playing everyday in LF. |
