Not a good way for Mr. Gosling to make friends on his new team.

Casey must have a magnet in his head that attracts baseballs to it. This is the 4th or 5th time he's been hit there.

Frank Chance was hit in the head something like 38 times according to some sources, he planted deep in the box and had slow feet. Casey steps into he picth and is bringing his head into the zone, when one comes in high and hard he has trouble limbo-ing out... being a large and not so limber type of player.

Thsi is he sort of thing that can ruin a career, it's the eqivalent of a fighter being punch drunk.

3-0 Pirates after 5. Bailey pitching when runs scored, I think.

He's been hit several times, but I only remember him being hit in the head one other time. Plus, once in the eye but that wasn't by a pitch... I believe he was fielding when that happened. He also had that one horrible collision.

Craig Stansberry homered off Josh Hall in the 5th, according to Yahoo.

BTW, again Adam isn't playing first base. I wonder why. This seems to be happening with frequency now.

Didn't he start this game at 1B?

He did; sorry. I didn't realize it was a split squad.

Re: 3/8/06 Reds vs the Pirates

Part of the reason, I am sure, is that this is split squad day and Pena and Griffey are not in camp because of the WBC. May actually need the bodies to cover the OF for both games...

Is he still in the game or has he been pulled already?

I don't buy it; they have a plethora of OFers.

Re: 3/8/06 Reds vs the Pirates

From the "Comment" section on Marc's blog, here are his thoughts on Bailey today:

"Bailey looked fantastic. Broke a couple bats, faced four hitters in a scoreless inning. The runs were surrendered by Josh Hall on a three-run bomb by Craig Stansberry."

Re: 3/8/06 Reds vs the Pirates

I'm not real worried about Dunn's ST time at first. He is not new to the position, has made several starts there.
