3/23 game thread Reds vs. Pirates

Dave Williams vs. Paul Maholm on the mound (That's what Reds.com says... i thought I read in the Enquirer it was Ian Snell... I will investigate edit: Snell pitched yesterday... whoops)

Red's Lineup per Marc

Tony Womack 2B
Felipe Lopez SS
Edwin Encarnacion 3B
Adam Dunn LF
Scott Hatteberg 1B
Javier Valentin C
Chris Denorfia CF
Brian Buchanan RF
Dave Williams P

Big Rob Stratton's making the trip as well...

Denorfia in CF makes me sad because it will never happen any day soon. Same with EddieE batting 3rd....

OK, I don't get this doom and gloom around here regarding Eddie E. - other than a joke said tongue in cheek, where has Jerry Narron ever said that he won't be the starting 3rd baseman?? Certainly as the roster stands now, there will be plenty of floating going on in the line-up, but I think you're going to see Eddie E. ensconced on the hot corner come Opening Day. Just my opinion.

I believe he was referring to EE batting 3rd, not playing 3rd.

yup.... although Junior just raked batting third in the WBC, so I have no problem with him there this year. As long as we don't see any more Junior batting second with Casey behind him like last year (which won't happen since casey is gone, but you catch my drift)

Re: 3/23 game thread Reds vs. Pirates

I pay to God that EE never has to bat 3rd this season. I'm hoping that Griff locks up that spot, or perhaps Dunn. If EE is batting 3rd, then I think that means the Reds have some major injuries to deal with.

One day down the road, I can see him developing into a 3 hole type hitter, but not a kid as green as EE is right now.

Dave Williams looking abysmal this spring...this trade could turn out to be another Dan O'Briend waste

I hope not, though.

Dunn 3rd JR 4th..worked well last year, Dunn getting on base for the kid.

Of course I expect them to be split because we must "split the lefties"

0-0 after .5 If you guys get bored watching Ortiz v. 2.0 (Williams) you can watch the original pitching for the Nats today.

Brian Buchanan two-run double. He is making it hard on the Reds to not keep him as the 5th outfielder barring any more trades.

Buchanan got a 2 RBI double to take the lead 2-1. Just wanted to give more detail.

edit: Tim beat me to it!

B. Brian Buchanan is one-man killer bees, and every pitcher in Florida is getting stung, people.

And another two run double by Buchanan and followed one out later by a Womack HR. Reds lead 6-1
