Wouldn't it be great?

Wouldn't it be great if Ken Griffey Jr. led the Reds to AT LEAST respectability, if not playoff contention, with a huge season, the same year that the steroid investigation gets off the ground? When all of these steroid users were reaping their rewards from cheating, Jr. was on a trainer's table fighting to get back to what he once was. I think it would be only fitting that with the cheaters now finally caught, and not only caught, but being thrown in front of the public eye with this investigation, that Jr. finally regains his perch atop the game with a COMPLETE and monstrous season. Maybe I'm asking for too much. Maybe it won't all come together, and maybe Griffey will indeed have a great season, but the Reds will suck, which will take a lot of the focus off Griffey. But it would be so great for the game if Griffey could have one of his classic seasons, to show the viewing world that it CAN be done the right way, and that hard work and perseverance, even through the worst of times, can pay off.

Re: Wouldn't it be great?

Griffey doesn't need to carry this team.

We have 3 guys that could be all-stars this year on offense.
Felipe
Griffey
Dunn

And we have EE and Kearns who have the potential to be all-stars. Jr. had a GREAT spring mostly impart to I think he finally has his legs back. Last year I still don't think he was back to the real Junior. However, i don't think he has to be.

If you gett 300/30/100 out of Junior like you did last year, I think we would all be satisfied. Think about it he put about 30 homers last year and didn't hit a homer the 1st month of the season.

Ditto. I'm predicting .308/45/120 this year out of Junior.

All we need is Grif & Co to stay in the race until June. I have a feeling Big Bob will open the wallet and trade for a pitcher or 2. I would love to see the Reds break atendance records so Linder can see what can happen when you care about your team.

My "sighing dream" scenario is for Ken Griffey Jr. to hit 63 HRs and break Roger Marris's record to become the "unofficial" home run king.

But, reality sets in after a few moments of imagining. If the Reds want to have a great season, they have to be led by Aaron Harang, Bronson Arroyo and Brandon Claussen. The Reds will go as far as those three guys, plus the bullpen, take them.

Re: Wouldn't it be great?

JR could hit 1.000 and we'll still need pitching.

It would be cool though
