4/5/6 Game Thread vs baby Bears

Figured I had a decent record last season, so let's get Bronson's start in Cincy off on the right foot.

Lineups:

CUBS
Pierre CF
Walker 2B
Lee 1B
Ramirez 3B
Jones RF
Barrett C
Murton LF
Cedeno SS
Rusch P

REDS
Freel 2B
Lopez SS
Griffey CF
Aurilia 1B
Dunn LF
Encarnacion 3B
Kearns RF
Ross C
Arroyo P

Go get'em fellas!

Edited to add: At least I started this on gameday, right?

If you have DISH Network and get MLB Extra Innings the game is on channel 625. Actually there is a free preview of Extra Innings this week for those of you who have satellite TV.

Having Aurila platoon with hattenberg make sit more likely that firstbase may not be a blackhole as much as we thought.

THey should combine for an .800 OPS+ as long as they don't face alot of opposite pitchers.

Today we could see the best lineup the Reds can put on the field, IMO

Glendon Rusch on the hill for the Cubs. Good to see Narron moving two left handed bats out of the lineup.

Glendon Rusch (2005)

vs. LHB: .333 BAA, 5 HR in 29.2 IP
vs. RHB: .294 BAA, 9 HR in 115.2 IP

Nice scouting work.

That's a small sample size on the lefties and probably reflects facts like the Reds still keep the likes of lefties like Griffey and Dunn in the lineup against most lefties. I'd platoon out Womack and Hatteberg against all lefties, as well.

probably a good idea. IIRC, Rusch is one of those fastball/change LH pitchers. His breaking ball is average at best.

Also, that's only one side of the equation. Neither Womack nor hattenberg are particularly good against LH pitchers. The fact that this lefty wasn't that great against LH hitters last seaon doen't mean that Hattenberg will suddenly figure it out. The more likely scenario is that those LH hitters which don't have problems against LH pitching will do even better.

Well... Having Dunn at 1st dooms this lineup in JN's eyes...

Agreed. I didn't feel like looking up the stats, so I left that part out
