Re: Analysis of top and potential career homerun leaders
I was wrong, McGwire ended his career a more prolific power hitter than the Babe. That's just sick having one homerun practically every 11 times at bat.
I'm impressed at the level of consistency by Ruth and Killebrew over their careers. The improvements made by Bonds, Palmeiro and Sosa as they advanced through their careers is simply astounding. Chemically astounding I mean.

Re: Analysis of top and potential career homerun leaders
Don't forget Williams lost seasons both in WWII and Korea - and at his peak. He would likely be very close to Ruth and Aaron had he played those seasons. Sosa and Palmeiro likely make the Hall of Fame (I'm guessing both will eventually be inducted) due to steroids since both appear to have sputtered and stumbled before. Bonds however foolishly sullied his reputation since he was a Hall of Famer before he ever took steroids and now will forever live with a cloud over his accomplishments.
