More From The Star-Ledger
The Star Ledger reports:
WHAT WE'RE HEARING One of the reasons the Dodgers handed Jeff Kent that $11.5 million extension for 2007 was because they'd like him to move to first base, maybe even a little bit this year, and he didn't want to hit the free-agent market as a first baseman. Now, being set with a contract for next year, he can play wherever he wants. Even with their outfield logjam apparently settled, the Reds are still shopping Austin Kearns to see if he can bring back a decent starting pitcher in a trade.

Re: More From The Star-Ledger
I don't want another Arrojo for Kearns, I want a prospect of some sort.

Re: More From The Star-Ledger
Think that trade rumor WLW put out involving Kearns, a second baseman and two relief pitchers could be the Dodgers that would net the Reds LHP Odalis Perez, RHP Brazabon and maybe a young arm like RHP John Broxton in return?

Quote:
Code:
Innings H/9 K/9 BB/9 HR/9 K/BB dERA ERA
Perez Road 272.0 9.89 5.72 2.28 1.32 2.51 4.52 4.73
Arroyo Road 202.6 7.77 6.13 2.18 0.71 2.82 3.63 3.48
Odalis Perez is largely the product of his home park, which hands out a pretty significant advantage to pitchers. The park factors are 92, 94, 96 and 96 in Dodger Stadium since Odalis Perez made his way to Los Angeles. He's been an above average pitcher in exactly two seasons since 1999, and one of those was already four years ago. Take Odalis Perez out of Dodger Stadium and he becomes below average. $8.75 million for Odalis Perez? Pass. For Austin Kearns, I want an arm that provides a similar value/salary cost as Bronson Arroyo, preferably even better. Odalis Perez at his ridiculous salary certainly isn't that arm, and he needs to stay far from Cincinnati.
